Proton Drive
The story of LA electronic music
Proton Drive is a documentary series that traces the lineage of electronic music in Los Angeles from the underground warehouse parties of the 1990s to today's globally influential scene. Through never-before-seen archival footage and intimate interviews, the series reveals the stories of the pioneers who shaped the city's sonic identity.
The project features over forty interviews with artists, producers, club owners, and cultural historians, weaving together a narrative that is as much about community and resistance as it is about sound. From the early days of rave culture to the rise of beat music and beyond, Proton Drive maps the evolution of a movement.
The series is produced in partnership with local archives and community organizations, ensuring that the stories told are authentic and representative of the diverse voices that have contributed to LA's electronic music legacy. A companion soundtrack album featuring original scores and curated selections will be released alongside the series.
